Keynote: F. Barton Evans, III, PhD
Introduction by Raymond J. Lawrence, General Secretary
A bridge to understanding the work of Anton T. Boisen and Harry Stack Sullivan, two pioneers – Boisen and Sullivan – "saw eye to eye" on how to use dynamic psychotherapy with all varieties of suffering, bewildered, and venerable folks who could use some help. Enter F. Barton Evans, III, PhD, and his thirty years of work – Evans organized the centennial celebration of Sullivan's work – and then went on to write the seminal monograph on Sullivan's approach to psychotherapy.

Years later, how do we employ spiritual care in 2022 especially in light of systemic racism, police brutality, and other forms of oppression that exist today? This workshop proposes that spiritual care has shifted to a more holistic approach. (Click the workshop's title to read more...)

Through a grant from Trinity Wall Street Philanthropies, The Center for Lay Chaplaincy has spent a year in a discovery phase of a three-year project to adapt CPE for diverse contexts. This includes, but is not limited to, developing a structure by which to train chaplains and CPE facilitators outside of the certification process to bring chaplaincy to places like food banks, homeless shelters, suburban parishes, and even city parks.
