    Description Under the supervision of a designated CPE Supervisor and Director of Spiritual Care and Education Services for twelve consecutive months, the Clinical Pastoral Education Resident (CPE) will be engaged in the following:
    - To actively fulfill the requirements of the CPE program; 
    - To integrate Spiritual Care into the total care of patients in assigned clinical areas at Meritus Health to contribute to greater 
    continuity of spiritual care; 
    - To develop key relationships with the staff, chaplains, volunteers, and interdisciplinary teams on assigned units; 
    - To connect patients to appropriate clergy/faith leaders to arrange for sacraments and other rituals when requested by
    patients and their family members;
    - To provide crisis interventions as necessary;
    - To assist families in using faith as a resource to cope with illness, trauma, and death;
    - To provide emotional and/or spiritual support to the patients’ family members as appropriate,
    - To support staff in dealing with their emotions and faith struggles in the trauma/loss of a patient or colleague by helping them through a debriefing process;
    - To document intervention with patients and others (including family members) in the computerized medical records for 
    department statistical purposes;
    - To complete and send to family members, when appropriate, a bereavement letter after the death of a patient;
    - To fulfill on call duties and respond by being in the hospital within 30 minutes of notification when on call;
    - To adhere to all hospital standards, policies, and procedures, along with the code of ethics of the College of Pastoral
    Supervision and Psychotherapy.
    Requirements Education - Bachelor’s degree required (Masters of Divinity or equivalent degree preferred and 1 unit of CPE or equivalent preferred.)

    Experience – Pastoral care experience preferred (post-educational/CPE training preferred)

    Licensure/Certification – N/A
